Cervinia a perfect gem came into existence over 3000 years ago when the Romans populated the area. Over 200 years ago the Cervinia came into being when the Breuil bowl was a magnificent Alpine Snowbank that was inaccessible by foot and in the 20th Century Cervinia and the neighbouring villages started making it a reference of somewhere for ski lovers to go. With the village sitting at an incredible 2006m and the Glacier perched at an almost unreachable 3500m the first ski lift was opened in 1936. All these factors allowed for optimal skiing conditions and a winter that lasts just over 6 months. Cervinia is today recognised as one of the main ski resorts of the world. Being one of the highest ski resorts in Europe this means low low temperatures and consistent snowfall resulting in perfect snow which allows for phenomenal skiing conditions.
The beauty of skiing in Cervinia is not only the Mighty Matterhorn a beauty to the eye, but with the efficient lift system Cervinia & Zermatt are linked allowing skiers to ski both Switzerland & Italy. This area together with Valtournenche make up the “Cervino Ski Paradise”. As magnificent as the winter is, the summer is just as picturesque and Cervinia is already quite famous for mountaineering where the first ascent of the Matterhorn happened in 1865. Mountaineering has become quite a sport with Experienced Climbers to guide and lead guests that are up for the challenge. For those you just want to be outside there are loads of walks available where no guiding is needed.
